What are the principles of a hoist remote control?

Publish Time: 2021-09-28     Origin: Site

Many new cranes and hoists are equipped with remote controls and they are an increasingly popular choice when modernizing existing cranes. This article is not intended to be a comprehensive guide, but rather as a starting point. We hope this article will be helpful to those of you who are in need of hoist remote control and other related industrial controller equipment.

This passage is going to talk about the followings of hoist remote control:

1) Standards for hoist remote control

2) Functional safety of hoist remote control

3) About us

1) Standards for hoist remote control

Standards vary slightly from region to region, but you can consult us to find out what kind of hoist remote control you need for your project.

In legislation and standards, remote controls are often referred to as cable-free controllers. Products on the market vary in functionality, so choices have to be made when selecting a product for a particular application. As with many situations where there are choices, making the wrong decision can have detrimental effects, especially if the safety performance of the application is compromised. Therefore, users and installers must have a clear understanding of their capabilities and how they will be installed, maintained and operated.

First, it is important to understand that most cable-free controllers on the market are multi-purpose; for example, they can be used to control a wide range of equipment, not just lifting machinery. Among other things, systems sold in Europe must carry the CE mark and have an EC Declaration of Conformity (DoC) indicating which directives the CE mark relates to. For cableless controllers operating via radio, the DoC should refer to the Radio Equipment and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive (99/5/EC), which covers the frequency range of 9kHz to 3,000Ghz. The DoC may refer to the Low Voltage Directive (2006/95/EC) and the Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (2004/108/EC), although Directive 99/5/EC includes electrical safety and EMC requirements by cross-reference. It is important to understand that these directives do not address functional safety.

2) Functional safety of hoist remote control

Functional safety involves the risk reduction aspects associated with the proper operation of a control system. Factors affecting the functional safety performance of control systems include their ability to avoid, tolerate and detect failures, which is influenced by component reliability, system architecture and avoidance of system errors.

Cranes and other lifting machinery fall within the scope of the Machinery Directive. The Machinery Directive includes specific "Essential Health and Safety Requirements" (EHSR) related to functional safety, and several harmonized standards have been developed to provide a means of designing control systems so that functional safety performance meets these EHSR.

The harmonized standard provides a method for meeting the specific "essential requirements" of the European Directive. Compliance with it provides a presumption of compliance with the essential requirements within its scope.

The harmonized standards applicable to the Machinery Directive are divided into three classes. class A deals with the basic safety of all types of machinery. class B deals with specific safety aspects and safeguards. class C is specific to a particular type of machine and is usually developed by adapting the requirements of class A and B standards to a particular machine. Functional safety is one aspect of the safety performance of a machine and therefore the relevant harmonized standards fall into the category B class.
